Words of Inspiration and Motivation

I searched for three individuals that had similar views as myself.  I value their words of inspiration and motivation to continue in the field of early childhood education.

Abigail Adams Eliot

“The most important thing is to enjoy children, to love them, be fair and just with them. If you do that, they're pretty likely to come out all right," she told supporters of the nursery school when she was starting it.”

Marcy Whitebook

''There's all this talk now about how important the early years are and how important education is,'' Ms Whitebook said, ''but as a society we are going to have to put our money where our mouth is. We have to value child care teachers more, and there is some movement in that direction in a few states and in some of the child care legislation that is before Congress.''

Louise Derman-Sparks

“I had a built in passion that it was important to make a real contribution to the world and to fix all the injustices that existed in the world and I wanted to do that through teaching”

My Uncle Eric

I remember that my Uncle Eric was young when my sister and I were born.  We were very special to him.  I remember getting to go to my paternal grandparents house and spend time with my uncle and his daughter Erica.  He always enjoyed spending time with us and taking us places.  As I got closer and was unable to see him as much he would call and check on me.  I remember I always looked forward to his phone calls.  He would call me his favorite niece.  When I got older my uncle came to see me and told me how proud he was of me.  He shared some life stories about his struggles and what he wanted me to do with my life.  It was important to my uncle that I stayed on the right path in life.  He would be happy to know that I have continued to blossom as an adult.  My uncle is no longer on this earth and I miss him dearly.  Thank you uncle for always supporting me and providing your wisdom.  I love you Uncle Eric.

Paternal Grandpa

My grandpa Norman was a very special man.  He cared for me by always playing with me when we came to visit.  Grandpa always knew how to make me laugh.  Even though he was older it was important to him to spend time with me.  I remember how close my grandpa was with his children and me.  Grandpa liked to go for car ride and we would talk about what we saw.  I still enjoy car rides and conversations.  I share that time now with my children.  My children were not able to meet their great grandpa but he lives through my memories.  Thank you grandpa for the time you spent with me.  I enjoy all the times you made me laugh.  I love and miss you grandpa.

Paternal Grandma

My paternal grandma was very special to me.  She is the beautiful lady in white.  Grandma Lovee love me very much growing up.  She enjoyed spending time with me.  I remember spending time at her dinner sitting in our special booth.  I think of her often and miss her very much.  My grandma had an impact on me even in my adult life.  I remember my grandma telling me how proud she was of me when I graduated high school.  Unfortunately, she passed away before she could see me graduate college.  I know she would be proud of my accomplishment.  I was very happy that she was able to meet my husband be for she left this earth.  Grandma Lovee thank you for loving me.  I love and miss you.

My daddy

My daddy has always been my biggest supporter in life.  Growing up he was our provider, protector, disciplinarian, and protective of his girls.  My daddy grew up with all boys and managed to have three girls.  My daddy was over protective of me being hurt by anyone.  He wanted the best for me by providing resources that I needed to reach my goals in life.  My daddy guided me in preparing for my future by instilling determination and will.  I think that I am a lot like my daddy.  He is a natural born leader.  Growing up he didn't always say that he loved me but he was always there for me.  Know that I am an adult my daddy tells me he loves me often.  He still supports me in my career choice and provides me words of encouragement when I need it.  When I talk to me daddy I feel that I can do anything.  Thank you daddy for loving and supporting me always.

My mommy

My mommy has always been my number one fan growing up.  It was important for her that we felt loved growing up.  My mommy is a natural nurturer.  She would do anything for anyone.  Growing up she would do anything for her children.   My mom worked very hard to ensure that we had what we needed or wanted.   It was also important for my mom that we had quality time as a family.  I still remember all of the fun family trips.  My favorite part was just spending time with my family.  My mom always wanted to make me feel special as an individual.  My mommy always kept the line of communication opened and believed in being honest with me.  My mom was and still is my biggest supporter in life.  She believes in me and my dreams.  It is because of her that I am a nurturer and truly enjoy what I am doing in life.  I love being a mother because of the love I received from my mommy growing up.  I love you mommy.

Personalizing my blog

·         I do not remember any books that I liked when I was younger.  I decided to post a book that I really enjoyed reading with my children in the classroom as well as my two boys.  Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. is my favorite.  I enjoyed the pictures and animations.  I enjoyed the song that went along with the book.  It is a great book to engage children in learning their letters.  I could use so many props to assist children with identifying letters and participating in story time.

 Recent Picture of Me

“True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own.”

By Nikos Kazantzakis

·         A story about a child that touched my heart is a student that started the school year with me attending a Pre-Kindergarten Program.  His name was R.  He was born prematurely suffered a brain injury.  His parents were older parents who were very protective of their son R who they said was “a gift from God”.  When R entered my classroom on the first day with his father his dad was hesitant to let go of R and let him enter my classroom.  I came up to day and welcomed him and R and reassured him that I would take great care of his son.  One day R’s dad pulled me aside and said that R really enjoys coming to school.  He shared that R would rush him out of the door saying “school”.  Mid-year we had student led conferences where students could share with their families what they had learned.  R was able to show is parents how to make patters, sort, begin to write the letter R for his name, identify circle and several colors.  His mom and dad began to cry while R was showing them what he had learned.  R’s mom and dad shared that they were so happy with R’s progress because the doctor’s said that he would not be able to do what he had accomplished since he had been in our program.  My heart was beaming with pride and excitement that I had made a difference in the eyes of R’s parents by helping his child be successful in his start to education.  This has continued to inspire me to continue to work in the field of early childhood education.

·         Working in programs that support children by providing early intervention program has fueled my passion for the early childhood field.  I want to advocate as much as I can the importance of children receiving support by attending early intervention programs offered by child cares or public school settings.

  • This is a picture that my oldest son drew.  The picture has hidden words and pictures throughout.  I chose this picture because it is different and gives you an opportunity to focus on different parts of the picture.  I feel that this is what I do when working with children.  I focus on all parts that influence a child in their life and in education.

  • Seeing how I can impact a child who was scared to enter child care not want to leave school because they love school continues to fuel my love for what I do.  I am no longer in the classroom but I continue to have an impact on the whole child.
